The scene that is occurring right now is that Mark and Beau are so close in reaching the top of the mountain. There is snow and a heavy rain, Mark is really cold and numb. The clothes he has on aren't even close to enough. to page 193 as it states, " The wind blew right through my clothes, even tho I was wearing all of them now...". This scene is important because Mark is so close to accomplishing what he always have wanted to do, which is climb a mountain before his cancer takes over and his last day with life comes. Mark's reaction is that he is being more determined than ever. He keeps on climbing up that mountain. In page 193 mark states that he keeps on going and that he wants to reach the top. He says that he was really weak and that he was barely lifting his feet to take another step but he had this feeling to keep on going. I think that by the time he reaches the mountain something bad will happen.

Another conflict there is in the story at this moment is that they are trying to get Mark off the bus, since the bus driver noticed he sneaked in. As the bus driver states, “Did you really think I wouldn’t notice? I know how many seats I got and I know how many tickets I took. ” This is a problem since if Mark gets off that bus he isn’t going to reach his destination before he dies, sO time is running out for him. This problem is affecting Mark for the most part and a little to the bus driver since someone didn’t pay to get in the bus. mark wasn't doing anything because he wasn't feeling good and the pain he had after the beating did not help at all. He got off the bus and what he did is that he felt like crying but the anger he had made him hold them in. in page 110 it shows, " Tears burned in my eyes, but my anger was strong enough to hold them there." This conflict is an external conflict because it's situational. |
